The important saints Emmeram and Wolfgang, as well as Carolingian emperors, Bavarian dukes and Regensburg bishops have been buried here. The Emmeram cloisters were built between the 11th and 14th centuries; the basilica was remodeled in the 18th century in the Baroque style and belongs to the most important churches in Europe.
Famous artists like the Asam brothers and the renowned architect Leo von Klenze have shaped the cloisters.
